GST invoice generator for freelancers and consultants
If you are registered under GST, every invoice you issue must be a tax invoice with specific details. Cruzeviz builds them for you and gets the tax split right automatically.
What a GST tax invoice must include
Under the GST invoice rules, a tax invoice for services generally needs:
- Your name, address and GSTIN
- A unique, consecutive invoice number (up to 16 characters) and the invoice date
- Your client's name and address, and their GSTIN if they are registered
- A description of the service with its SAC code
- Taxable value, GST rate and tax amount — split into CGST and SGST, or IGST
- Place of supply (state name and code) for inter-state supplies
- Your signature or a digital signature
CGST + SGST or IGST?
It depends on where your client is (the place of supply) compared to your registered state.
| Client location | Tax charged | Example at 18% |
|---|---|---|
| Same state as you | CGST + SGST | 9% + 9% |
| Another state | IGST | 18% |
| Outside India (export) | IGST (zero-rated under LUT, if you have one) | 0% or 18% |
In Cruzeviz you only set your state and your client's state once. Every invoice then applies the right tax and prints the place of supply.
