HSN and SAC on the item
Published by Cruzeviz on .
HSN or SAC sits on the item, not on the customer. Save it once and the next invoice picks it up.
When your business is GST registered, the item form has a code field. Type a few digits and pick from the shared list of service codes. If that code has one suggested rate, the rate fills in. You can change the rate on the item. The next invoice uses the rate you saved.
A GST invoice needs a code on every line
If the customer has a GSTIN, the bill is a GST invoice and every line needs a code of four to eight digits. The customer's state follows the first two digits of that GSTIN. An Indian customer without a GSTIN still needs a state, so the tax can be split the right way. An overseas customer stays an export.
Goods codes are not in the shared list. Type the code and set the rate on the item yourself. The list does not invent a rate where more than one rate applies.
The field is there when the business is GST registered. A business that is not registered does not put a code on the item. The code and the rate stay in your account. This note does not publish your items or your customers.
